Fatty acid binding protein (brain) (B-FABP) is involved in the transport of hydrophobic ligands with morphogenic activity during CNS development. It is required for the establishment of the radial glial fiber system in developing brain, a system that is necessary for the migration of immature neurons to establish cortical layers. Recombinant human B-FABP comprises a 132 aa polypeptide (1-132) corresponding to the full-length protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
