    Leptin is a hormone primarily produced by adipocytes (fat cells) and plays a crucial role in regulating energy balance and body weight. Often referred to as the "satiety hormone," leptin helps signal the brain about the body's fat stores and energy levels. When fat stores are sufficient, leptin levels rise, signaling to the brain to reduce appetite and increase energy expenditure. Conversely, when fat stores are low, leptin levels decrease, leading to an increase in hunger and a reduction in energy expenditure. In addition to its role in appetite regulation, leptin also influences immune function, reproductive health, and bone metabolism, making it an important regulator of overall physiological processes.
