Potent and selective serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitor (Ki = 0.05 nM). Binds to the serotonin transporter (SERT). Also inhibits Norepinephrine transporter (NET) and increases NET and SERT expression. Additionally acts as a selective G-protein-receptor-kinase2 (GRK2) inhibitor, showing >50-fold selectivity over other GRKs. Shows antidepressant and anxiolytic actions.
