亦称蜗管。哺乳类的骨迷路虽然形状大体和它所包容的膜迷路相似，但球囊分化成螺旋形，弯曲的部分呈蜗牛壳状，而被称为耳蜗。耳蜗腔内充满外淋巴，以基底膜为界分为上下二阶，即前庭阶（scalavestibuli）和鼓室阶（scala tympani）。两阶由位于耳蜗顶端基底膜延长部分的蜗孔相联系。进而又存在着以基底膜为底由前庭膜（vestibular memb-rane，或Reissner′s membrane）隔开的蜗管，成为管中之管。蜗管中充满内淋巴。蜗管介于上阶与下阶之间，因此又称为中阶
