The TRIM motifincludes zinc-binding domains, a RING finger region, a B-box motifand a coiled-coil domain. The RING finger and B-box domains chelatezinc and might be involved in protein-protein and/orprotein-nucleic acid interactions. The gene mutations areassociated with mulibrey (muscle-liver-brain-eye) nanism, anautosomal recessive disorder that involves several tissues ofmesodermal origin.
