轴突 axon，axis-cylinder 神经元的构成单位。与树状突起相对应，亦称轴状突起（axon process）或神经突起，是从神经细胞（细胞体）发出的长突起。其包裹在被膜里的（即没有被膜时的裸轴突本身）则称为神经纤维。轴突的末端进行分枝，与下一个神经元或效应器形成突触结合，以传导神经细胞的兴奋。在实验中轴突显示双向性传导，在生物体内大都按自轴突基部至末端成固定的方向传导。轴突有时也伸出侧枝（collateral）。轴突内部是由许多神经原纤维和填满其间隙的神经原生质所组成
轴突反射 axon reflex 亦称假反射（pseudoreflex）。在末梢神经的单一轴突的分枝，一枝产生的兴奋通过分枝部位传导到另一枝，有时从那里再移向其它神经元。轴突反射就是指这种由向中神经冲动转换成离中神经冲动所呈现的状似反射样的反应。由于来自皮肤的向中纤维分枝分布于附近皮肤的血管上，所以刺激皮肤产生的局部发红即是轴突反射。在甲壳类的肠交感神经中，同一轴突的一枝达至粘膜上皮，另一枝达至肠肌，所以可看到同样的现象。
