Peacock stone green is an artificially synthesized organic compound and dye. Its production consists of 1 mole of benzaldehyde and 2 moles of xylene mixed with concentrated hydroch.loric acid, heated and condensed to form a leuco base. Under acidic conditions, lead peroxide is added to oxidize it, and the pigment base is precipitated in an alkaline solution. It belongs to the triphenylmethane type green dye.
