EGF is a cytokine belonging to the EGF family and is a founding member of this protein family. EGF is a low molecular polypeptide containing 53 amino acid residues, containing three disulfide bonds, nine EGF-like domains, and nine LDL receptor Class B repeats. EGF is a growth factor with the function of stimulating the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues and certain fibroblasts in cell cultures in vivo and in vitro.
