描述：Xanthine is a purine base, which is used in synthesis as an intermediate in the degradation of adenosine monophosphate to uric acid . It is known that Xanthine is found in most body tissues and fluids in various organisms. Biologically Xanthine is produced from guanine by cypin (guanine deaminase) and it can be separated in the lab using amberlite resin. In addition, Xanthine act as constituents of nucleic acids. Furthermore, Xanthines act as antagonists for adenosine receptors, with selectivity depending on whether there are substitution of alkyl groups.
