指在黄载色体和红载色体中含有类胡萝卜素的球状小泡。和蝶呤体（ pterinosome）一起与出现黄色、橙色和红色有关。直径多在 0.1微米左右，但也有在 1微米以上的。所含有的类胡萝卜素系来源于食物。
