指表皮细胞一部分的几个细胞突出成为毛状，顶端或中部的细胞具有分泌出水分机能的结构。构成豆科（ Leguminosae）、胡椒科（ Piperaceae）、旋花科（ Convolvulaceae）、紫葳科（ Bignoniaceae）等的吐水毛的细胞，薄壁，富于原生质，另外其基部的细胞比附近表皮细胞大。
