Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating condition associated with high morbidity and mortality. Following the initial ictus, the intraparenchymal hematoma immediately triggers a series of events leading to secondary brain injury and severe neurological deficits. In an effort to understand the underlying mechanisms of ICH-induced brain injury and to evaluate therapeutic interventions, numerous experimental studies have been performed in our laboratories in last years, especially using several biochemical and molecular biological methods. The most commonly employed techniques are introduced below.
