阿纳德和布罗贝克(B.K.Anand、J.R.Brob-eck,1951)发现,丘脑下部外侧区两侧性破坏时的动物完全不摄食;但如用电刺激这个部位,则摄食量增加,甚至在饱食状态也还要摄食,称此部位为摄食中枢。丘脑下部腹内侧核的破坏或刺激可出现与外侧区相反的现象,称此腹内侧核为饱食中枢(satietycenter)。这两个中枢在摄食的神经调节中具有相互拮抗作用。
