Identification of Neuropeptide Receptors

Recently there has been an explosion of information on peptides that may act as neurotransmitters or neuromodulator substances in the brain and periphery. Many investigators interested in the effects of neuropeptides have made use of radioligand binding techniques to identify potential receptors in target tissues. In this chapter we discuss general approaches that have been used to study peptide receptors, with special emphasis on neuroanatomical aspects of these methodologies.
