进行内分泌产生激素的腺体，与外分泌腺不同，无导管（也称无管腺），其分泌物直接由腺细胞放出到血液中。内分泌腺分泌的物质称激素，主要的内分泌腺有脊椎动物的脑下垂体、甲状腺、甲状旁腺、肾上腺、胰岛、睾丸、卵巢、胎盘，尾索类的神经腺、甲壳类的中枢神经、X器官、 Y器官，昆虫的 allatum体、前胸腺、脑等。此外脊椎动物十二指肠、胃、唾腺等也被认为有内分泌腺的机能。
