动物的精子和使精子浮游的精浆（seminal pla－ sma）合称精液。狭义的精液有时专指精浆。精浆根据动物的不同，可由体腔液或雄性的一些生殖输送管的分泌液组成。哺乳类的精浆是由输精管、精囊、前列腺、尿道球腺等的分泌液组成。将精液射出体外，称为射精。精液在被排出体外之前，精子一般是不运动的，射精时与各种精浆混合后而被活跃化。所取出的不混水的纯精液，称为非稀释精液（ dry sperm）。
