Hormonal and Differentiation Agents in Cancer Growth Suppression

Although chemotherapeutic agents are a cornerstone of therapy in medical oncology, hormonal and differentiating therapies play an increasingly important role. There is no clear-cut margin between chemotherapy, hormonal, and differentiating modalities. Although chemotherapeutic agents are intended to kill cancer cells, they may induce differentiation. On the other hand, the induction of apoptosis by differentiating and hormonal agents is also an important mode of their action.
