Vasospasm: Measurement of Diameter, Perimeter, and Wall Thickness

互联网

479
Cerebral vasospasm is a complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) which can cause cerebral infarction and poor outcome after SAH. Experimental investigations and experimental and clinical therapeutic maneuvers have endeavored to understand the pathogenesis of vasospasm and to develop treatments for it. The most verifiable definition and characteristic of vasospasm is narrowing of the larger muscular intradural arteries of the circle of Willis and hence, assessment of their lumen size is a key endpoint to be measured (this chapter).
