亦称亚氨基脲或氨甲酰胺。易溶于水和醇，水溶液而作为一元碱而起作用。少量存在于救荒野豌豆（ Vicia sativa）的苗和甜菜的汁液中。在人尿中也能找到少量，但在尿毒症时可增加数倍。据认为是尿毒症症状的原因之一，投予时可呈现尿毒症样中毒。系一种肌肉毒，可使神经末梢兴奋，另外可作为钙的颉颃剂而起作用。其盐酸盐是类似尿素作用的蛋白变性剂。
