    基质金属蛋白酶（MMP）由 24 种已知的人锌蛋白酶组成，其在分
    解细胞外基质（ECM）的组分中具有重要作用。另外的 MMP 底物包括
    细胞因子，趋化因子，生长因子和结合蛋白，细胞/细胞粘附分子和其他
    蛋白酶。除少数例外，MMP 具有共同的结构基序，包括前肽结构域，
    催化结构域，铰链区和血红素结合蛋白样结构域。合成为酶原，大多数
    MMP 在转化为其活性形式之前分泌。MMP 活性在几个水平上被调节，
    包括转录，酶促活化，或通过其内源抑制剂，金属蛋白酶组织抑制剂
    （TIMP）。MMP 的一部分与膜相关并称为膜型金属蛋白酶（MT-MMP）。
