细胞凋亡的一个显著特点是细胞染色体的DNA被内源核酸内切酶有规律的降解成长度约为180-200bp的整倍数的片段。本试剂盒采用TUNEL (TdT mediated dUTP Nick End Labeling)法，应用末端脱氧核糖核苷酸转移酶(TdT)在凋亡细胞断裂的DNA的3′-羟基(3'-OH)末端催化掺入荧光素-12-脱氧三磷酸尿苷(FITC-12-dUTP)。FITC-12-dUTP标记的DNA可以用荧光显微镜直接观察或者用流式细胞仪定量。
