Cystatin C is a member of family 2 of the cystatin superfamily. It is ubiquitous in human tissues and body fluids and mainly used as a biomarker of kidney function. Cystatin C inhibits many cysteine proteases such as papain and Cathepsins B, H, K, L and S. As an inhibitor of cysteine proteinases, Cystatin C is thought to serve an important physiological role as a local regulator of this enzyme activity. Recently, it has been studied for its role in predicting new-onset or deteriorating cardiovascular disease. It also seems to play a role in brain disorders involving amyloid (a specific type of protein deposition), such as Alzheimers disease.

TNFRSF1B can be cleaved into the following 2 chains: Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 1b and membrane form and Tumor necrosis factor-binding protein 2. TNFRSF1B is a receptor with high affinity for TNFSF2/TNF-α and approximately 5-fold lower affinity for homotrimeric TNFSF1/lymphotoxin-α. TNFRSF1B mediates most of the metabolic effects of TNF-α. Interleukin-13 is also known as IL-13. It is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL13 gene. Interleukin-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells.It is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells.
