Serum Amyloid A-4 Protein (SAA4) is a member of the SAA family. SAA proteins are a family of apolipoproteins associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma. SAA4 is constitutively expressed only in humans and mice. Its physiological function is unknown. SAA4 functions as a major acute phase reactant. SAA4 mRNA and protein occurrence in macrophage derived foam cells of coronary and carotid arteries implied a specific role of human SAA4 during inflammation including atherosclerosis.

Metalloproteinase inhibitor 4 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the TIMP4 gene, belongs to the protease inhibitor I35 (TIMP) family. The protein complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. Known to act on MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7 and MMP-9.

关于PCSK9：
Recombinant Human Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin Type 9/PCSK9 (D374Y) is a gain of function mutant of human PCSK9 protein. Human PCSK9 is a secretory subtilase belonging to the proteinase K subfamily. PCSK9 is synthesized as a soluble zymogen that undergoes autocatalytic intramolecular processing in the ER, the pro domain and mature chain are secreted together through noncovalent interactions. PCSK9 binds with low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) and it plays a major regulatory role in cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibition of PCSK9 function by preventing PCSK9/LDLR interaction is currently being explored as a means of lowering cholesterol levels. PCSK9 also binds to apolipoprotein receptor 2 (ApoER2), and play a role in the neural development.
