Product Overview



The Stemgent® Human MSC Characterization Set is a specific and sensitive application-tested tool designed to characterize and/or isolate mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human bone marrow and other sources. Human MSCs are of extensive research interest because of their potential differentiation ability into osteoblasts, adipocytes, and chondroblasts in vitro and for therapeutic application. In addition, MSCs from patient specific induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells draw further interest for clinical use. While MSCs can best be defined functionally by their differentiating capacity, identification and characterization of MSCs by their unique biomarkers are extremely important to assess the quality of the cells in culture and the efficiency of enrichment. Human MSCs from bone marrow and other sources can be characterized by high level expression of CD29, CD44, and CD90, and by the absence of CD34 and CD45 expression. The five Stemgent® antibodies included in this characterization set have been verified by their performance in immunocytochemistry (ICC) and flow cytometry (FC) applications on normal human MSCs to ensure the highest quality results.
