The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity. | Clone REAL935 recognizes Connexin 43, a transmembrane protein also known as GJA1 or GJAL, which is one of the gap junction proteins in vertebrates expressed in heart and fetal cochlea, granulosa cells, astrocytes, and also in human astrocytomas and in the astroglial component of glioneuronal tumors. A gap junction consists of two connexons, which has six connexin subunits. Connexons from two different cells form a continuous channel that ensures the direct exchange of molecules. Thus, they contribute to autocrine and paracrine pathways and play an important role in many physiological processes, e.g. in embryonic development, the transmission of excitation in the heart muscle, activation of intracellular signaling pathways and for cell-cell adhesion. Connexin 43 is especially involved in embryonic development, inflammation and spermatogenesis and in muscle contractions.
