有特殊的血清型和唾液型。根据血细胞型凝集素的有无，家兔的血清可分为α′、β′、α′β′、O四个血清型。家兔的α′、α′β′血清型易产生人血细胞A型抗体，而β′、O血清型则易产生人血细胞B型抗体。在家兔唾液中，已确认有易于获得人血细胞A型物质（称排出型）和不易获得人血细胞A型物质（称非排出型）的两种类型。唾液A型物质的有无与血清型、凝集素的强弱及脏器中的A型物质存在与否无一定关系，但同A型抗体产生能力有着密切的关系。欲使之产生A型抗体，应用非排出型，并选用α′、α′β′血清型兔。 20
