Urea is the primary end product of nitrogenous compound metabolism in organisms and is further decomposed into ammonia under the catalysis of urease. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) is an important indicator for assessing renal function. This kit employs the diacetyl monoxime method: urea nitrogen in samples reacts with diacetyl monoxime and thiosemicarbazide under acidic ferric chloride–phosphoric acid conditions upon heating, generating a red diazine derivative. The color intensity is proportional to the urea nitrogen content, enabling quantitative analysis.
