Constructed by inserting a BamHI/SalI fragment from pMC1403 (lac operon beginning at codon 9 of lacZ) between the BamHI/BalI (SalI-linkered) sites of pCYM0. Expresses beta-galactosidase activity in E.coli, S. cerevisiae, and mouse cells, and thus can be used as a control to calibrate transformation efficiency. Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI/SalI–6.0(doublet); EcoRI–12.0; SmaI–12.0; Pvu/BamHI–6.5, 2.5, 2.1, 0.54, 0.49.
