一种嘌呤碱基。含于动物的血液、尿中，亦存在于茶叶中。由次黄嘌呤氧化生成，进一步氧化可形成尿酸。与核糖、磷酸结合成的黄苷酸（ xanthylic acid），是由次黄苷酸生成鸟苷酸过程中的中间物。
