Rabbit anti Human EHMT1 antibody recognizes euchromatic histone-lysine N-methyltransferase 1, also known as G9a-like protein (GLP).
EHMT1 shares an evolutionary conserved SET domain with G9A, a histone methyltransferase enzyme (Shinkai and Tachibana, 2011). EHMT1 and G9A function exclusively as a heteromeric complex (Tachibana et al. 2005). G9A and EHMT1 also share a region containing ankryin repeats, involved in protein-protein interactions. The G9A/EHMT1 complex is able to methylate a wide range of non-histone proteins including transcription factors such as p53. As a result of their non-histone protein methyltransferase activity, both G9A and EHMT1 play a role in a wide range of cellular processes including cellular response to environmental stimuli, the establishment and maintenance of cell identity, and cell cycle regulation (Ling et al. 2012).

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
