    Cell adhesion molecule which is required for leukocyte transendothelial migration (TEM) under most inflammatory conditions (PubMed:19342684, PubMed:17580308).
    Tyr-690 plays a critical role in TEM and is required for efficient trafficking of PECAM1 to and from the lateral border recycling compartment (LBRC) and is also essential for the LBRC membrane to be targeted around migrating leukocytes (PubMed:19342684).
    Trans-homophilic interaction may play a role in endothelial cell-cell adhesion via cell junctions (PubMed:27958302).
    Heterophilic interaction with CD177 plays a role in transendothelial migration of neutrophils (PubMed:17580308).
    Homophilic ligation of PECAM1 prevents macrophage-mediated phagocytosis of neiG‌‌HBoring viable leukocytes by transmitting a detachment signal (PubMed:12110892).
    Promotes macrophage-mediated phagocytosis of apoptotic leukocytes by tethering them to the phagocytic cells; PECAM1-mediated detachment signal appears to be disabled in apoptotic leukocytes (PubMed:12110892).

    4% P‌‌araformaldehyde-fixed Jurkat (H) cell; Triton X-100 at r.t. for 20 min; Antibody incubation with (CD31) polyclonal Antibody, unconjugated (bs-43666R) 1:100, 90 min at 37°C; followed by conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG antibody (green, bs-40295G-FITC) at 37°C for 90 min, DAPI (blue, C02-04002) was used to stain the cell nuclei. PBS instead of the primary antibody was used as the blank control.

    The Jurkat(H) cells were incubated in 5%BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions (30 min at r.t.). Primary Antibody (green): Rabbit Anti-CD31 antibody (bs-43666R): 1 μg/10^6 cells; Secondary Antibody (white blue): Goat anti-Rabbit IgG-FITC (bs-40295G-FITC): 1 μg/test. Isotype Control (orange): Rabbit IgG (bs-0295P). Blank control (black): PBS. Acquisition of 20,000 events was performed.
