The S100 family of proteins contain two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs and are thought to be involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes including cell cycle progression and differentiation. S-100 A11 is involved in motility, invasion and tubulin polymerisation. Recombinant human S-100 A11 is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
