细胞衰老(Cell senescence)是指细胞在执行生命活动过程中，随着时间的推移，细胞增殖与分化能力和生理功能逐渐发生衰退的变化过程。在pH 6.0时，细胞化学可检测到细胞内β-半乳糖苷酶的活性，是体内和体外细胞衰老的重要标志。本试剂盒是基于SA-β-gal活性变化的生物学特征而设计的，以X-Gal为底物，在衰老特异性的β-半乳糖苷酶催化下生成深蓝色产物，在光学显微镜下观察颜色变化以分析细胞或组织的衰老状况。
灵敏度高：衰老样本染色明显
特异性强：仅染色衰老细胞，无背景染色
