文献和实验促甲状腺激素释放激素（thyrotropin-releasing hormone，TRH）
为下丘脑中促垂体激素的一种。其成分为肽类。等克分子量的谷氨酸，组氨酸及脯氨酸结合成三肽，即：焦性谷氨酸—组氨酸—脯氨酰胺。分子量为362。TRH广泛分布于下丘脑以外的脑脊髓部分。为内源性中枢刺激物。如低等脊椎动物无垂体但体内TRH含量多，表明其原始作用为调节神经系统功能。可能作为递质存在。由下丘脑分泌的TRH经垂体门脉运至腺垂体，作用于腺垂体的促甲状腺细胞，与细胞膜上受体结合，激活腺苷酸环化酶-cAMP-蛋白激酶系统，使促甲状腺细胞合成与释放促甲状腺激素，并维持其正常分泌
