Aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase (DDC) which is a pyridoxal 5′-phosphate dependent enzyme, is present in the cytosol and cell membrane. The enzymatically active form of the enzyme is detected in many tissues. The gene encoding DDC is localized on chromosome 7p11-p13.

Anti-DDC antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project .
