Cyanine 555 and Cyanine 647 alkynes can be used to analyze O-GlcNAcylated proteins by 2D glyco-DIGE (differential gel electrophoresis). They react with azide groups to form 1,2,3-triazole by copper(I) catalyzed 1,3-dipolar Huisgen cycloaddition. Cyanine 555 and Cyanine 647 are structurally identically to Cy®3 and Cy®5 dyes respectively from GE Healthcare.
