相关基因：
Leprdb：瘦素受体基因（ leptin receptor，Lepr）位于小鼠第4号染色体，Leprdb突变是该基因的内含子出现了一个G-T颠换，影响了mRNA的正常剪接，使最终产物丧失信号转导的作用。
特性：
- 纯和鼠在3-4周即可表现明显肥胖，10-14日龄时血清胰岛素出现升高，8周龄左右血糖升高，小鼠表现多饮、多食和多尿症状。
- db突变鼠病变程度受背景影响较大，BKS背景db鼠表现不受控制的血糖升高、胰岛β细胞严重缺失、10月龄前出现死亡、周围神经病变、伤口愈合延缓等。
- 纯和鼠不孕不育，需杂合之间繁育。浅毛色“m”突变的引入是为了便于对小鼠进行区分，m突变位于Dock7基因，Dock7基因与Lepr基因位于同一染色体，但m突变与db突变为互斥关系，亲代为双杂合的Dock7m +/+ Leprdb基因型，因此后代理论上有1/4的db纯和，表现为黑色和肥胖；1/2双杂合，表现黑色和正常体型；1/4的m纯和db野生，小鼠表现灰色和正常体型。
