Agrobacterium rhizogenes is a gram-negative soil bacterium of Agrobacterium in Rhizobiaceae. It can infect most dicotyledons, a few monocotyledons and individual gymnosperms. Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain c58c1 contains pria4b agrobasine Ri plasmid and has a wide host range (Rosaceae, oleander, Leguminosae, Solanaceae, Scutellaria, tobacco, etc.), as well as streptomycin and rifampicin resistance.
