    基质金属蛋白酶（Matrix metalloproteinases, MMP），也称为基质蛋
    白，是一类锌和钙依赖的内肽酶家族，在细胞外基质（Extracellular matrix,
    ECM）的分解中起作用。MMP-3（也称为溶基质素-1）可以在成纤维细
    胞、软骨细胞、内皮细胞、巨噬细胞、血管平滑肌细胞、成骨细胞和角
    质形成细胞中表达，以响应适当的刺激。MMP-3 作为酶原从细胞分泌，
    已证明酶原可刺激纤溶酶原激活。炎症细胞因子如 IL-1 和 TNF-α和表皮
    生长因子为 MMP-3 的诱导剂，而糖皮质激素、雌激素、孕酮和 TGF-β
    抑制 MMP-3 的产生。N 末端前结构域含有 MMPs 保守的半胱氨酸开关
    基序以维持 MMP-3 处于潜伏状态。MMP-3 在体外可通过自身蛋白酶、
    胰凝乳蛋白酶、中性粒细胞弹性蛋白酶和血浆激肽释放酶以及汞化合物
    等途径激活。并且 MMP-3 可能参与生理基质更新和组织的病理破坏，
    如 MMP-3 是在椎间盘突出症模型中产生巨噬细胞化学引诱物所必需的。
