    胰岛素是一种由胰岛β细胞产生的肽激素，被认为是身体的主要合
    成代谢激素。它通过促进特别是血液中的葡萄糖吸收到肝脏、脂肪和骨
    骼肌细胞中来调节碳水化合物、脂肪和蛋白质的代谢。在这些组织中，
    吸收的葡萄糖通过糖原生成转化为糖原，或通过脂肪生成转化为脂肪
    （甘油三酯），或者在肝脏的情况下转化为两者。血液中高浓度的胰岛
    素强烈抑制肝脏产生和分泌葡萄糖。循环胰岛素也影响多种组织中蛋白
    质的合成。因此，它是一种合成代谢激素，可促进血液中的小分子转化
    为细胞内的大分子。血液中的低胰岛素水平通过促进广泛的分解代谢产
    生相反的效果，尤其是体内储备脂肪。
