英文名:Thymine
描述:One of the pyrimidine bases of living matter. Derivation: Hydrolysis of deoxyribonucleic acid, from methylcyanoacetylurea by catalytic reduction. Use: Biochemical research. Thymine (5-methyluracil) is a pyrimidine nucleobase. As the name implies, thymine may be derived by methylation of uracil at the 5th carbon. Thymine is found in the nucleic acid DNA. In RNA thymine is replaced with uracil in most cases. In DNA, thymine binds to adenine via two hydrogen bonds to assist in stabilizing the nucleic acid structures.

胸腺嘧啶二聚体 thymine dimer 嘧啶二聚体的一种。由于紫外线的作用，使 DNA分子内主要在邻接的胸腺嘧啶碱基间形成共价键。通常 5位和 6位碳原子与此键有关。虽 DNA的这个部分不能复制，并成为突变的原因，但已知细胞内具有在酶促作用下将这部分切除，而具有新的正常碱基填充的修复机制。
