Dichlorodimethylsilane (DDMS) can be used as a silylating agent for the silylation of Pd/SiO2 catalysts to enhance the catalytic activity for the selective hydrogenation of aromatic ketones.[5][6] It is also employed as a reagent in the synthesis of hydrophilic and hydrophobic silica nanoparticles and amides from unprotected amino acids.[7][8]
