RNA Keeper®-ICE是一种新型试剂，能使冰冻组织转变到通过普通的匀浆方法易于处理的状态，从而提取高质量的RNA。它使冰冻组织不需要在匀浆前将其碾磨成粉，甚至在匀浆前能够进一步对组织进行切割。在用RNA Keeper-ICE溶液处理的过程中，当其使组织从坚硬的冰冻状态转变为柔软状态时，该溶液渗入组织，使RNA酶失活。组织一旦用RNA Keeper-ICE溶液处理，就能在室温下操作而不用担心RNA会发生降解。样品能被安全的称重，进一步切割，或者进行多种实验而不影响RNA的质量。能将样品直接加入到裂解溶液中破碎，或置于-20°C长期保存。
