Azido Myristic Acid (also sold as Click-iT® myristic acid, azide) can be used to identify and characterize post-translationally myristylated proteins with using a simple and robust two-step labeling and detection technique. Step 1 – the Azido Myristic Acid is fed to cells or animals and actively incorporated into proteins. Step 2- the incorporated Azido Myristic Acid is detected through the chemoselective ligation or “click” reaction between and the incorporated azide group and an alkyne detection reagent. A wide variety of detection reagents are available from Click Chemistry Tools, including fluorescent dyes, hapten, and biotin-free enrichment kits.
