背景资料：IU1特异性结合到USP14的活性形式。IU1抑制USP14，通过抑制其对接到蛋白酶体上，而对8种其他DUBs, IsoT, UCH37, BAP1, UCH-L1, UCH-L3, USP15, USP2, USP7很少或根本没有抑制活性。加入IU1，快速抑制USP14，移除后，抑制迅速得到逆转。IU1抑制USP14诱导的链修饰，且降低Ub-CCNB类型的电泳迁移率。在有USP14存在时，IU1增强蛋白酶体的Ub-CCNB降解。在蛋白毒性机制研究中，IU1促进tau的退化，且降低TDP-43, ATXN3，和胶质纤维酸性蛋白（GFAP）
