This process may contribute to the formation of glomerular subepithelial immune deposits in vivo. The authors differentially extracted GECs to determine whether HA redistribution is mediated by cytoskeletal components. Observations were made by phase-contrast and immunofluorescence microscopy on primary and passaged GECs in monolayer culture and by spectrofluorimetry on GECs in suspension. Function: Acts together with cubilin to mediate HDL endocytosis. Receptor-mediated uptake of polybasic drugs such as aprotinin, aminoglycosides and polymyxin B. Subunit: Binds plasminogen, extracellular matrix components, plasminogen activator-plasminogen activator inhibitor type I complex, apolipoprotein E-enriched beta-VLDL, lipoprotein lipase, lactoferrin, CLU/clusterin and calcium. Forms a multimeric complex together with a receptor-associated protein (RAP). Binds to ankyrin-repeat family A protein 2 (ANKRA2). Interacts with LRP2BP. Interacts (via NPXY motif) with DAB2; the interaction is not affected by tyrosine phosphorylation of the NPXY motif. Subcellular Location: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
