背景简介：
凝集素是非免疫来源的蛋白质或糖蛋白，可以凝集细胞和/或沉淀复合碳水化合物。即使在存在各种洗涤剂的情况下，凝集素也能结合糖蛋白。这些高特异性碳水化合物结合分子的凝集活性通常被简单的单糖抑制，但对于某些凝集素，需要二糖，三糖甚至多糖抑制。凝集素从各种各样的自然来源中分离出来，包括种子、植物根和树皮、真菌、细菌、海藻和海绵、软体动物、鱼卵、无脊椎动物和低等脊椎动物的体液，以及哺乳动物细胞膜。凝集素在自然界中的确切生理作用尚不清楚，但它们已被证明在体外的各种应用中非常有价值。
接骨木树皮中含有大量凝集素，称为黑接骨木凝集素（SNA）。这种四聚糖蛋白由分子量分别为34500和37500的A和B亚基组成，具有5.6%的共价结合碳水化合物，富含谷氨酰胺谷氨酸和天冬酰胺天冬氨酸。因此，它的分子特性与普通豆类的植物血凝素非常相似。SNA在接骨木树皮中经历季节性波动，就像苹果树皮中的储存蛋白经历季节性变化一样。
