Glutathione Synthetase belongs to the eukaryotic GSH synthase family. Glutathione Synthetase is the second enzyme in the glutathione biosynthesis pathway. It catalyses the condensation of gamma-glutamylcysteine and glycine to form glutathione. Glutathione play an important role in a variety of biological functions, including detoxification of xenobiotics, protection of cells from oxidative damage by free radicals, and membrane transport. The protein functions as a homodimer to catalyze the second step of glutathione biosynthesis, which is the ATP-dependent conversion of gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteine to glutathione. Defects in Glutathione Synthetase can also cause the glutathione synthetase deficiency of erythrocytes, which is a mild form causing hemolytic anemia.

GALNTL1 plays an important role in the protein modification and protein glycosylation process. GALNTL1 uses the manganese and calcium ion as a cofactor, may catalyze the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, transfers the N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor.

关于HO-1/HMOX1/HSP32：
Heme Oxygenase 1 (HO-1) is an enzyme in endoplasmic reticulum that belongs to the heme oxygenase family. HO-1 cleaves the heme ring at the alpha methene bridge to form Biliverdin. Biliverdin is subsequently converted to Bilirubin by Biliverdin reductase. In physiological state, the highest activity of HO-1 is found in the spleen, where senescent erythrocytes are sequestrated and destroyed. HO-1 activity is highly inducible by its substrate heme and by various non-heme substances such as heavy metals, bromobenzene, endotoxin, oxidizing agents and UVA. HO-1 is involved in the regulation of cardiovascular function and response to a variety of stressors. Defects in HO-1 are the cause of Heme Oxygenase 1 deficiency, resulting in marked erythrocyte fragmentation and intravascular hemolysis, coagulation abnormalities, endothelial damage, and iron deposition in renal and hepatic tissues.
