Pig Muscle satellite cells, also known as porcine myosatellite cells or muscle stem cells, are multipotent cells that involved in postnatal muscle growth and skeletal muscle hypertrophy and regeneration. They are located between basal lamina and sarcolemma of the muscle fibres. These cells are characterised by the large nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio, few organelles, small relatively small nucleus and condensed interphase chromatin. Pig Muscle Satellite Cells are tested for expression of marker using the antibody of α-actin, by immunofluorescence staining. The majority of pig satellite cells are quiescent in healthy unstressed muscle. The cells are derived from postnatal piglets at three weeks where high proportion of satellite cell were obtained. Each vial contains ≥5×10^5 cells. Cells are guaranteed to further expand for 3-5 passages following the instructions provided and using cell culture media kit provided by AcceGen. Cells have passed QC test and are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. Pig satellite cells are highly recommended to be used directly after arrival and not for long-term culture. Application
For research use only Pig is an excellent organism to model human disease due to their physiological similarities to human beings. Pig muscle satellite cells can be used to study stem cell differentiation and tissue regeneration. They can be used to simulate disease associated with muscle regeneration such as sarcopenia and muscular dystrophy.
