Description 
Polyclonal Antibody against NMDA NR2A Form Lyophilized Antibody (Stored in 5 mM Ammonium Bicarbonate) Host Rabbit Species Reactivity Mammalian [Ab] 10 ug/vial Specificity NMDA NR2A Polyclonal Antibody, PurifiedGlutamate activated Ion channels that are sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) are designated NMDA receptors (NMDAR) The NMDA receptor plays an essential role in the induction of LTP in the CA1 and dentate areas of the hippocampus as the specific NMDA antagonist, APV blocks LTP in these areas. This receptor has also been linked to neuronal development and it has been implicated in several disorders of the central nervous system including epilepsy and ischemic neuronal cell death. The NR1 protein can form NMDA activated channels when expressed in Xenopus oocytes but the currents in such channels are much smaller than those seen in situ. Channels with more physiological characteristics are produced when the NR1 subunit is combined with one or more of the NMDAR2 (NR2 A-D) subunits.
This antibody was raised against a C-terminal fusion protein of the Rat NMDA . It shows strong and specific immunolabeling (i.e. does not cross react with NMDAR2B or R2C) of the 180 kD NMDAR2A subunit of the NMDA receptor in Western blots at antibody dilution of 1:200.Uses These antibodies are effective in immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation Suggested Working Dilution The optimal working dilution should be determined for each specific assay condition. This antibody is sold for laboratory research use only, not for human or in-vivo use. The above dilutions were obtained with 35S-protein A. If using ECL, dilutions may need to be considerably higher to obtain specific immunolabeling.Storage After reconstitution, store at -20°C.
